The system will be offered on Cessna's Citation Citation Sovereign and Citation Xbusinesa jets. The Aircell High Speed Internet system allows passengerx touse Wi-Fi enabled laptops, tablet PCs, smartphones and PDAs to surf the Web, send and receive e-maiol with attachments, access thei r corporate Virtual Private Networks, all at full mobile broadbanf speeds in flight, Broomfield-based Aircell said. Aircell's networlk uses a network of U.S. grounx stations and an exclusivebroadband air-to-groune spectrum, the company It claims the system is up to 56 timesa faster than a traditional dial-up connection.
The gear involved weighs 11 pounds, plus two belly-mounteds antennae that weigh 1.25 pounds each.
