$10M boost expected from Hispanic Chamber convention in Denver - Denver Business Journal:

Leaders of Colorado’s Hispanic business community and local officials gathered at the Coloradlo Convention Center Tuesday to formallhy announce theconvention — the third time the city has been host to the nationaol Hispanic chamber. The gathering will be at the ColoradoConvention Center, Sept. 16-19. Previous conventions were held in Denver in 1995and 1997. is a primw sponsor of the convention with a commitment of Jerry Natividad, co-chair of the event’s host committee and a board member of the USHCC, said the conventiob will focus on four key sustainable growth and the greeninbg of the U.S.
economy; growthn of Hispanic businesses, especially among Hispanic the federal economic stimulus prograk and refining economic survival and innovation skills amongHispanic businesses. “Hispanic businessz owners across the country are facing continuouw challenges onmany fronts,” Natividad said. “The need all the help they can get, making key gaining access to crucial information about acceseto capital, new industries and otherd trends that will help lead our country out of the current recession.
This year’s national convention will provide such an Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper said the convention is a chance to highlight Denver’s successes before one of the fastest-growingg business sectors in the U.S. “The timing couldn’t be more Hickenlooper said, noting the city’s planned Biennia l of the Americas celebrationnext summer, which includes a two-month-long curated eveny of contemporary art and ideae from throughout the Americas. Hickenlooper is meeting with diplomats from Sout h and Central America this week in Washingtom this week to promote the2010 event. There are an estimated 15,000 Hispanic-owned businesses in Denver, Hickenlooperf said.
